An independent designer has launched an application (or ‘ap’) for the Apple iPhone which allows consumers to study the INCI names of cosmetic products and their relative safety profiles, giving a colour-coded “assessment” of their environmental and health rating.
The ap, developed by Italian designer, Alfredo Delli Bovi, is called Cosmetifique and can be downloaded by anyone with an iPhone for $1.99 and claims to offer members of the public the opportunity to: “...finally know if the cosmetics that you have bought or those you are going to buy are really valid and above all if they are dangerous for your health or for environment!” Users of the programme are then able to share their experiences and findings on social networking sites such as Facebook.
