With age, the effects of gravity on the skin become more and more visible, and the skin becomes less firm and begins to sag, stresses Sederma which is launching a solution to the problem.
To fight against this phenomenon and to help women look younger, the company has developed Idealift which contains a specific lipodipeptide. The company discovered that this lipodipeptide exhibits good stimulating results on elastin synthesis. Idealift fights against cutaneous sagging and decreases the visible effects of gravity on the skin which accentuates flaccid jowls due to ageing or daily environmental aggression. The efficacy of Idealift was demonstrated in vitro by measuring elastin synthesis and elastin fibre architecture. The quantity of elastin/ tropoelastin actually settled in the extracellular matrix after release from the fibroblasts increased by more than 94%. Idealift has also been shown to intervene in the various stages of elastic tissue formation and maturation. Elastic tissue does not only consist of elastin, but also of various proteins acting as a guide and enabling anchoring and stabilisation. In addition, enzymes are necessary for maturation (fibrillin-1, fibulin-5 and lysyloxidase in particular). Tests were carried out on 26 female volunteers aged 54 to 75 with sagging skin. Women applied, twice a day, a cream containing 4% Idealift for two months. Effects of this new active ingredient were proven after just one month. They were confirmed by using various evaluation techniques (Aeroflexmeter: a new device developed and patented by Sederma, FOITS and self-evaluation). The visible effects of gravity decreased and cutaneaous sagging was fought. For 80% of panellists, skin was firmer.
