Seppic offers natural version of Geltrap technology

Seppic has launched a natural version of its patented Geltrap technology for creating cold-processed gel-in-oil emulsion that can be achieved with low shear equipment.

Extra-rich in water, it offers various viscosities and the ability to stabilize all types of oily phase while providing an emollient sensation, protection against dehydration and water resistance.

It also presents benefits for specific applications such as providing an easier combing in hair care application and a long lasting scent in perfuming cosmetics.

The challenge for Seppic teams was to keep those several advantages for both formulators and consumers while replacing the synthetic rheology modifier and emulsifier that were originally recommended.

As a result, the high internal aqueous phase is thickened with Solagum GM, a 100% natural origin, non-ionic gum derived from Glucomannan.

Meanwhile, the low external oily phase is stabilized by a liquid glycolipidic emulsifying system containing Fluidanov 20X, a 100% natural origin1 multifunctional liquid co-emulsifier.

Moreover, Solagum GM is extracted from the tubers of Amorphophallus muelleri, a tropical plant also authorized in China according to STSC2.

It provides extra thickening and moisturizing properties, with a pleasant, cushioning and comfortable skin feel.

Seppic will demonstrate in real time how it formulates a natural Geltrap during its ‘Formulating Bar’ sessions at stand 5D110 at next month’s in-cosmetics Global 2025 trade show in Amsterdam.
