P2 Science wins recognition for innovation

US personal care ingredient maker P2 Science has been named as one of Fast Company’s world’s most innovative companies of 2025.

This year’s list shines a spotlight on businesses that are shaping industry and culture through their innovations to set new standards and achieve remarkable milestones in all sectors of the economy.

Alongside the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, Fast Company recognizes 609 organizations across 58 sectors and regions.

In September 2024, P2 launched a new globally compliant high molecular weight liquid polymer for cosmetics and personal care, Citropol DE-4 (INCI: Bis-Polycitronellyl Succinate).

The only molecule of its kind in the market today, Citropol DE-4 is said to outperform heavy silicones or ethoxylated esters, and offers a renewable, non-petrochemical, and palm-free alternative to beauty brands and consumers.

It is derived from upcycled terpenes extracted from responsibly managed forests as a side stream of the pulp and paper industry.

Citropol DE-4 is USDA certified biobased, 96% natural origin (ISO 16128), and inherently biodegradable.

"Recognition by Fast Company as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies is an incredible honour,” said CEO Oihana Elizalde.

"We know what we are doing at P2 Science is special; we hear it from our customers and partners around the world on a regular basis. The opportunity to share P2’s mission, to reinvent the material economy using green chemistry, on this platform is incredible,” she added.

“None of this would be possible without our innovative and hardworking team in Connecticut and throughout the US, our investors who share our vision and have supported us through it all, and our many partners across industries.”
