Swiss SCC airs guide to energy efficient cosmetics production

The Swiss Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) has published guidelines for energy-optimised development and production of cosmetic products.

The guide is the result of a two-year project by Energy Lab, Swiss SCC, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), EnergieSchweiz, and Swiss firms La Prairie, Frike Group, Steinfels Swiss and Kinematica.

Their document - ‘Energy-Efficient Cosmetics Production’ - is divided into two parts.

The first part presents the efficiency concepts, the results achieved and lists simple instructions for action.

In addition, detailed regulations for scale-up and quality determination are given.

An extensive appendix (parts A and B) with detailed background information can be obtained free of charge from the authors upon request.

The appendix provides interested users with all the necessary background information, theory and suggestions for evaluations, which means the efficiency concepts can be implemented by any company.

This can be requested directly from the authors or the Swiss SCC board via Ludger.Fischer@hslu.ch.

“The Swiss SCC is committed to a sustainable industry of the future and motivates its members to implement measures to reduce CO2 emissions,” it said.

“For this reason, it has provided conceptual and financial support for a practical project run by the HSLU and ZHAW universities between 2021 and 2023 together with EnergieSchweiz as a professional association.”
