Safic-Alcan and IMCD each won a Laura Marshall Memorial Award for Innovation at the SCS (Society of Cosmetic Scientists) Formulate conference and exhibition in Coventry, UK.
This year, the award was expanded to cover two categories: ‘Sustainability and Ethics' solutions that improve the world we live in; and ‘Technology and Disruption’ ideas that push the boundaries and break the mould of the cosmetics industry.
Safic-Alcan, a French distributor of specialty chemicals, won the Sustainability and Ethics category award for Beauty Unmasked – a 99% natural, biodegradable, microplastic-free, dissolvable sheet mask formulation, composed of a cellulose gum film that does not dry out over time.
Also shortlisted in the Sustainability and Ethics category were Nordmann for RevitalEyes Dual Patch and Barentz for Shine Shot Conditioner.
Meanwhile, IMCD won the Technology and Disruption category award for Boost My Cycle.
The Dutch distributor beat off Aston Chemicals, which was shortlisted for Melting Serenity Balm; and Cornelius for Deo:Decoded hybrid cream-to-serum all-over deodorant.
Voting took the form of a token to be placed in the show attendees’ chosen finalist’s display in the award zone in the exhibition hall.
The Laura Marshall Memorial Awards honour the former chair of the SCS Formulate Scientific Programme Committee who passed away unexpectedly in 2014.
