Lignovations has won the SEPAWA Innovation Award for LignoGuard, an SPF booster and antioxidant ingredient made from upcycled biomass lignin.
LignoGuard helps manufacturers to reduce problematic UV filters in sun care products by increasing the SPF by up to 50%.
Additionally, it reduces the white cast typically seen in mineral sunscreens.
The Austrian firm says LignoGuard offers an eco-friendly solution for brands looking to improve both the performance and sustainability of their products.
Lignovations head of business development Victor Tibo (pictured) said: “We are honoured to receive this recognition. It underscores the importance of sustainable ingredients like LignoGuard in today’s beauty market.
“Thanks to the antioxidant and protective properties of lignin, our products can be utilized not only in the beauty industry but also in packaging, coatings, and agriculture, contributing to a circular economy."
