US personal care ingredient maker P2 Science has launched Citropol DE-4 and Citropol V6, the latest additions to its growing range of natural-based ingredients.
Made from upcycled forest-derived terpenes, Citropol polymeric emollients mark a significant milestone in beauty industry innovation as the first new liquid polymeric emollients launched since silicones.
Citropol DE-4 is a unique and multifunctional high molecular weight polymeric emollient.
It can create rich and luxurious textures, elevate the sensory experience of commonly used alkanes, and is shown to provide conditioning benefits for hair, especially curly and textured hair.
Its rich texture is ideal for various formulations, including skin and hair care, rinse-off, and leave-on, and colour cosmetics.
Meanwhile, Citropol V6 is a novel volatile emollient blend that combines excellent spreadability with a light, non-greasy feel.
A standout feature of Citropol V6 is its ability to replace cyclomethicone, a widely used silicone in personal care products known for its smooth feel and quick-drying properties.
Unlike cyclomethicone, which has been scrutinized for its environmental persistence and potential bioaccumulation, Citropol V6 offers a natural and biodegradable alternative without sacrificing performance.
Citropol V6 not only matches but often exceeds the sensory and functional properties of cyclomethicones, providing a sustainable solution that meets both regulatory demands and consumer expectations.
Oihana Elizalde, CEO of P2 Science, said: “We are thrilled to introduce Citropol DE-4 and Citropol® V6 to the market. These products represent the next step in our mission to create sustainable, high-performance ingredients that meet the needs of today’s consumers.
“We are excited to see how our customers will leverage these products to create the next generation of sustainable beauty solutions.”
Both Citropol DE-4 and Citropol V6 are globally available for sampling and commercial orders starting today, and compliant in China.
