NanoCacao shown to de-stress skin

Mibelle Biochemistry has launched a lipophilic fraction of cocoa beans to de-stress skin.

Cocoa beans contain several “feel-good” chemicals including anandamide, a lipophilic substance which is also naturally produced in the brain, the company says. This neurotransmitter induces euphoria, regulates appetite and relaxes muscles. Anandamide binds to the cannabinoid receptors which are also present on certain skin cells. In a co-culture model of nerve cells with muscle fibers, the new product, NanoCacao, was shown to relax muscle contractions. In vivo, NanoCacao improved the smoothness of the skin’s micro relief. Thus NanoCacao can relax and smooth the skin leading to an improvement of the complexion. The product is available in two versions:
• NanoCacao: cocoa bean lipophilic fraction encapsulated in a nano-emulsion (watersoluble). • NanoCacao O: cocoa bean lipophilic fraction (oil-soluble). INCI/CTFA declaration: • NanoCacao: Theobroma cacao extract/Theobroma cacao (cocoa) extract (and) glycerin (and) lecithin (and) tocopherol (and) caprylic/capric triglyceride (and) phenoxyethanol (and) aqua/water. • NanoCacao O: Theobroma cacao extract/Theobroma cacao (cocoa) extract (and) tocopherol (and) caprylic/capric triglyceride.
