The Scent & Care segment of German speciality chemicals maker Symrise posted 12% sales growth in the first six months of 2024.
Taking into account exchange rate effects, sales increased to €993m ($1.073 billion) in the reporting currency (H1 2023: €886m).
Symrise said sales in its Cosmetic Ingredients division continued to develop well in the first six months of the current year, again posting double-digit percentage organic growth.
The EAME, Asia/Pacific and Latin America regions saw sales increases significantly. The North America region saw just slight growth compared to the first half of 2023.
The strongest growth was posted by the sun protection business and the Micro Protection business unit, it added.
The Scent & Care segment generated EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) of €182m, an increase of €42m compared to the previous year’s adjusted figure of €140m.
The segment’s EBITDA margin was 18.3%, 2.5% higher than the previous year’s adjusted figure of 15.8%.
Group-wide, Syrmise posted EBITDA of €530m, an increase of 11.5% compared to the previous year’s adjusted figure, against sales of €2.565 billion (H1 2023: €2.414 billion).
