Ichimaru Pharcos unwraps skin care ingredient duo

Japanese cosmetic active maker Ichimaru Pharcos (1P30) has launched two ingredients, JuniperBright and Fermentage AloeVera.

JuniperBright is designed to prevent/reduce formation of lipofuscin for borderless skin brightening.

Lipofuscin causes light scattering on the skin and make skin appear dull.

Moreover, lipofuscin accumulates in cells with aging because of weakened intracellular cleaning up systems, ubiquitin-proteasome system and autophagy.

Ichimaru Pharcos searched for a material that activates these systems and found that an extract of Juniperus communis fruit had this effect.

Meanwhile, Fermentage AloeVera is designed to prevent seasonal disturbance of the skin.

Skin is affected by many kinds of environmental factors like temperature, humidity, exposome, and so.

In Japan, a country with large seasonal environmental change, such skin disturbance is called yuragi. More than 50% of Japanese women suffer from yuragi skin.

Ichimaru Pharcos focused on two features of yuragi skin: loss of natural moisture content and IL-1α secretion.

Fermentage AloeVera was developed to address the two features of yuragi skin by fermentation of certified organic aloe vera leaf juice powder with lactic acid bacteria isolated from the plant.

This ingredient is rich in lactate and potassium ions, which are natural moisture contents that are easily lost in fluctuating skin.
