Katonah Chemical’s John Carola named NYSCC chair-elect

Katonah Chemical’s personal care business development manager John Carola has been named as chair-elect of the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC).

New Jersey's Carola, who will become chair on 1 January 2025, is currently committee chair of NYSCC’s Future Chemist Workshop.

He will shadow the 2024 chair Amber O. Evans, who takes over from outgoing chair Stacey House on 1 January.

House, senior VP of consumer beauty R&D at Coty, will remain on the NYSCC board, serving a one-year term as adviser to Evans.

“I’m honoured to be providing leadership to this chapter and guide its future growth,” said incoming NYSCC chair Evans.

“Thank you to my predecessor, Stacey, for her guidance and support and bringing this SCC chapter to new heights. Together with this amazing board, dedicated committee members, and countless volunteers, we will continue our strong mission of providing top education in cosmetic science and enhancing professional and industry development,” she added.

Meanwhile, Alex Blakeman, senior director of technologies at Superior Materials will be treasurer, while treasurer-elect is Diane Dabkowski, senior manager of R&D technical services at Avon.

The new secretary is Mythili Nori, senior scientist, performance & claims at BASF.

The NYSCC announced its 2024 executive board during the annual SCC Technical Symposium in New York City.
