Providing formulators with updates on product development, safety and regulatory issues, emulsion formulation and emulsifier systems, sensory effects, emollient systems, and fragrance creation will be Formulate Asia 2008 which is being organised by the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association of Singapore and the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (Singapore).
Formulate Asia 2008 is being staged in Singapore on 30 and 31 October. The first day’s sessions will be held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and will cover topics such as:
- The product development process (Dr Noble Mathew, research and development director, J&J).
- Cosmethics – an overview of safety, regulatory requirements, intellectual property, efficacy and export principles (Dr Alain Khaiat, president, Seers Consulting).
- Understanding emulsion formulation and technologies (Chantal Amalric, research and development manager, Seppic).
- Creating the right sensory effect with the right choice of rheology modifier (Maria Fe Boo, skin care scientist, Lubrizol).
- Emulsifier systems (David Dowdell, director, enterprise technology and marketing, Croda).
- Choosing an appropriate emollient system for your application (Stephanie Chan, head of research and development, Celblos Dermal Research Centre).
- Fragrance – creating the magic smell (Dr Norbert Braun, vice president, technology scent and care, Symrise).
The second day will be a hands-on laboratory session held at Singapore Polytechnic’s laboratories and will enable participants to apply what they learned during the previous day.
