Givaudan unwraps PrimalHyal Hydra[+] hyaluronic acid

Givaudan Active Beauty has taken the wraps off PrimalHyal Hydra[+], a cationic hyaluronic acid (HA) crafted by ‘white biotechnology’.

The Swiss firm says its new active outperforms standard HA hydration benefits by at least a factor of two, bringing “never-before-seen moisturising efficacy to both rinse-off and leave-on applications”.

Clinical tests versus placebo in different application formats (shower gel, lotion, sheet masks) established that PrimalHyal Hydra[+] at 0.1% is able to provide instant skin hydration in just one application, both in rinse-off and leave-on applications; bring long-term skin hydration with prolonged use; reinforce skin barrier function by increasing lipid and protein production’ and maintain hydration benefits for up to four days.

“PrimalHyal Hydra[+] establishes a new gold standard in terms of hydration as it demonstrates significantly better performance than other grades of ‘native’ HA, from various molecular weights, both in rinse-off and leave-on applications,” said Mathias Fleury, head of actives for Givaudan Active Beauty.

“By modifying the charges of the molecule, we were able to boost its adhesion and affinity for the surface of the skin. That is why it works so well, even in rinsed formulas, after just one application,” he added.

“And amazingly, we have been able to demonstrate that the benefits are maintained for up to four days after stopping the treatment.”
