French personal care supplier Gattefossé has released a collection of eight new sun care formulas created from four of its key ingredients.
The formulas include Mineral Shield SPF50 and Powdery Stick SPF50+, both of which are made using Emulium Illustro, a W/O emulsifier that has proven compatibility with organic and mineral UV filters for stable products with a comfortable feel.
Mineral Shield SPF50, designed for sensitive and sun-intolerant skin, is neither sticky or greasy on the skin.
Gattefossé says Mineral Shield SPF50 is easy to apply and gives the skin a sunshine glow due to Gatuline Radiance.
Powdery Stick SPF50+ meanwhile is an anhydrous sun stick deigned to be applied to body areas particularly prone to UV damage such as the nose, cheekbones, scars and tattoos. Once applied, it leaves a dry and powdery finish.
Other ingredients featuring in the eight new formulas are Emulium Dolcea MB, an O/W emulsifier with ultra-soft and non-tacky afterfeel; Emulium Mellifera MB, another O/W emulsifier for a light and non-greasy finish; and Acticire MB, an active texturizing agent that improves sensoriality by reducing the greasy and tacky afterfeel.
“Our ingredients enable to create innovative textures with all kinds of UV filters,” said Malorie Duvent, cosmetic evaluation manager and sun care expert at Gattefossé.
“Our expert sensory panel helps us to optimize the sensory profiles of our sun care products. Performance being a priority, we test our formulas to guarantee the protective efficacy (SPF in vitro and in vivo, UVA), the water resistance and the photostability of UV filters,” she added.
