In recent years, the global market demand for hand sanitizers has grown at a fast pace due to the COVID-19 impact. A recent study forecasted a 17% growth during the period 2019–2025 for the hand sanitizer industry.1

However, hygiene is not the only factor consumers are considering when purchasing a hand sanitizer. Consumer awareness regarding environmental impact has increased as well. For example, data shows that 85% of the global population has a preference for sustainable products, which is a good indicator for manufacturers to develop bio-based hand sanitizers.2
