Personal Care Global editor Tim Probert talks to Irene Cantos Gaceo, IMCD Group Director, Beauty & Personal Care, about how the distributor of speciality chemicals is diversifying to stay ahead of the competition
Tim Probert (TP): In recent months you have started producing market-ready prototypes such as the NeoTech Beauty collection. As a distributor, what is the thinking behind offering prototypes and formulations?
Irene Cantos Gaceo (ICG): We are trying to add value to our stakeholders, not only to our customers as a distributor but also to really understand the market needs and trends. Then we utilise our internal resources on technical, on marketing and on sales to come together with concepts that in our opinion fit into these market trends, so that we can inspire our customers.
In this case, the NeoTech Beauty collection is focusing three pillars. Firstly, biotech, which is one of the main trends in skincare now. Secondly, the processes used to make the products, and the sustainable extraction process of our active ingredients. The final pillar is bringing smart ingredients to the formula, so that we can help overcome formulation challenges.
