Tests geared to wellbeing products

Recent research and development projects conducted by Laboratoire Dermscan have created new test methods geared to wellbeing products.

One study has related to the relaxing action of cosmetics by measuring the level of salivary cortisol. Cortisol is described as a “stress hormone”, and levels of it fall in situations of relaxation.

Behavioural tests for relaxing and energising effects have been developed in collaboration with the department of cognitive psychology of the University of Lyon II. They allow states of alert after perfume inhalation to be measured.

Also evaluated has been the psychological impact of cosmetics. Two scales chosen by the Dermscan Group enable quantification.

Considered are immediate effect on mood and a more long-term effect on general wellbeing.
