P2 Science has launched CitroComplex Hair, the first products in its the bioderived CitroComplex line of high-performance natural oil complexes. Commercial production is underway at the firm’ facility in Naugatuck, Connecticut.
CitroComplex Hair is designed for use in multiple haircare products and is said to impart protection from heat and UV damage, hydration and moisture retention, frizz reduction, combability, shine and gloss addition. Like of all of P2’s products, it is built on a proprietary green chemistry platform and is made from upcycled forestry by-products from Forest Stewardship Council-certified pine trees.
P2 started operations in 2018 and has launched 15 products since April 2020. It was co-founded by Professor Paul Anastas, head of the Yale Centre for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering, has launched 15 products since April 2020, all based on green chemistry. Investors in the firm include BASF Venture Capital and Chanel.
