Symrise works on sustainable extraction

Symrise has revealed that in November 2021, it began a three-year R&D collaboration with Antofénol of Plestan in Brittany, France.

They will work together to develop green products, mainly cosmetic ingredients and fragrances, from agroextracts via the sustainable eco-extraction techniques of microwave, ultrasound and vacuum technologies, which Antofénol has pioneered

“The technologies provide a number of advantages: they can adapt well to various raw materials, they use fast and effective energy transfer, and they save time compared with conventional processes,” Symrise noted.

Both its cosmetic ingredients and scent divisions in the Scent & Care segment and France-based Diana Nova from the Flavour & Nutrition segment are taking part, as the project is expected to have benefits in flavours as well. The company started to work with Antofénol two years ago on several other projects.
