Siltech will unveil a new sugar-modified silicone emulsifier called Silube Sustain-S (INCI: Gluconamido Lauryl Dimethicone (and) Isoamyl Laurate) at the MWSCC Teamworks trade event 22 March.
This is based on a reaction of glucose with an aminoalkyl functional silicone, and is enclosed in a 100% natural and fully biodegradable carrier, in the form of RSPO mass balance-grade, vegetable-derived isoamyl laurate. It has the same performance benefits as existing speciality silicone emulsifiers, the company said.
Silube Sustain-S is targeted at formulations featuring high biobased carbon content. As an example, Siltech has used it as the main emulsifier in its ‘Sustainable Hydration Moisturising Cream’ a W/O emulsion cream based mainly on renewable ingredients and aimed at imparting ultra-hydration. It also imparts a soft sensorial and smooth after-feel.
