Ashland has announced plans to increase production capacity for its Natrosol HEC range of hydroxyethylcellulose at Hopewell, Virginia, instead of at its Chinese site at Nanjing, as previously indicated. The company said that this move “addresses the immediate industry need for HEC” by enabling it to raise capacity sooner.
Natrosol HEC is a naturally derived product that is used as a non-ionic rheology modifier in multiple industrial and consumer-focused applications, including personal care. The desire for milder, natural, more sustainable ingredients is among the reasons for the “unprecedented demand” for the product, Ashland added.
