BASF Care Creations will hold its second virtual Beauty Days event on 29-31 March, having decided not to take part in In-Cosmetics Global in Paris the following week.
Dr Marko Grozdanovic, SVP of Personal Care Europe, said of not going to Paris: “This was not an easy decision for us, as we were very much looking forward to meeting our customers in person. However, the persistently high infection rates and the associated uncertainty about the further development of the COVID-19- pandemic worldwide have prompted us to take this step.”
The company will present its latest ingredients and concepts under the motto ‘Getting closer’ via expert-led events. It aims to bring the sensory pleasures that come with exploring foreign countries at a time directly to consumers’ homes at a time when travel is restricted.
Among other things, BASF will unveil an extension of its biopolymer portfolio for personal care called Emollient Maestro. This is an upgrade of Emollient Jockey, which was introduced in 2020, and is integrated into the company’s D’lite services.
Emollient Maestro uses AI modelling to calculates emollient mixes according to user briefings, and allows for the targeted replacement of industry benchmarks like cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone or mineral oils. The upgrade means that complex mixes are included, taking into account sensory and physicochemical properties, the ISO 16128 naturality index and common ecolabel certifications.
BASF Care Creations has also recently launched Cetiol SoftFeel as an alternative to cosmetic-grade petrolatum based on renewable ingredients. This is the latest addition to the Cetiol range of emollients.
This is said to have “a melting effect on the skin due to its transition from firm to liquid-like at skin temperature”. It leaves skin softer and mimics petrolatum in occlusivity as well as sensorial profile, the company adds. Applications include face, body, hair and baby care products.
