Palm-free grade from Cosphatec

Cosphatec has added Cosphaderm LA-T palm free (INCI: Levulinic Acid, Glycerin, Sodium Levulinate, Aqua) to its portfolio. The glycerine used in this is derived from rapeseed oil, which can be grown in in temperate climate zones.

The blend includes natural levulinic acid and its sodium salt, dissolved in water with glycerine. It is water-soluble and is said to be “very easy to use, offering antimicrobial efficacy up to pH 6”. For maximum antimicrobial efficacy, the company recommends combining it with ingredients that have strong properties against yeasts and moulds.

Separately, Cosphatec’s tocopherols, Cosphaderm T-70 Non-GMO Eco and T-50 Non-GMO Eco (INCI: Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil) have been awarded COSMOS-certified organic status, allowing easier and faster certification of organic products. These are described as the most powerful natural antioxidants.
