New brewery by-product from Full Circle
Full Circle has introduced its latest active based on brewery by-products.
Barley Toniq is enzymatically extracted, leading to a concentrated mixture of carbohydrates, short-chain proteins and polypeptides, and amino acids. It is preserved with a microbiome-friendly grade of propanediol which comes from an upcycled, non-GMO feedstock.
The company said that it has “supercharged fermented barley to create a potent skin-soothing active that rapidly rebalances irritated skin”. Barley Toniq is claimed to soothe skin redness by up to 23% in two hours.
The soothing action is largely attributed to its high amino acid content, including eight of the nine that are known to help reduce the appearance of irritated skin and boost the skin’s barrier function. Barley Toniq is also highly potent and so can be incorporated into skincare formulations at use levels as low as 1%.
