Sustainability ratings agency EcoVadis has awarded to platinum medals two firms active in the cosmetic ingredients sector for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) achievements. This places them in the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis in 2021.
Roelmi HPC received the award with a score of 75 out of 100, having previously won a gold award twice in a row. The company says that it “aims to create sustainable innovation following philosophies of respect for the environment, biodiversity preservation and use of sustainable sources through their programme, NIP, aiming both at keeping high-quality standards and efficacies, while optimising sustainability from the entire product lifecycle perspective”.
The other newly-honoured firm is France’s Olvea, a supplier of vegetable oils and butters for multiple industries, whose Vegetable Oils and Green Technologies both won the award. The company was first assessed by EcoVadis in 2015, formalised its CSR approach in 2018 and now publishes its annual OlveAct Now report, detailing its “actions, initiatives and commitments to accelerate its change and be an active player in the environmental and social transition”.
EcoVadis carries out its CSR assessment according to international standards providing guidelines for social responsibility following four performance factors of environmental-friendly and sustainable practices; sustainable procurement; business ethics; and labour and human rights.
