BASF focuses on ‘sustainable beauty’ at Suppliers’ Day

Under the theme, ‘Our Story of Sustainable Beauty’, BASF Care Creations is introducing new and recently launched concepts, formulations and ingredients for personal care at the 2021 NYSCC Suppliers’ Day

Under the theme, ‘Our Story of Sustainable Beauty’, BASF Care Creations is introducing new and recently launched concepts, formulations and ingredients for personal care at the 2021 NYSCC Suppliers’ Day.

“Sustainable beauty includes everything from responsible sourcing, sustainable production, water conservation and climate protection,” said Nader Mahmoud, VP for personal care solutions in North America. “We are showcasing solutions that use natural ingredients - produced from renewable raw materials - that meet increasing consumer and market demand for high-performing sustainable products.”

The company is introducing five deodorant formulas and one antiperspirant formula, featuring natural ingredients for >98% naturality, according to ISO 16128. Testing was conducted on individual ingredients to support microbiome-friendly claims.

Naturally Styled is a collection of four hair styling formulations made with natural ingredients that are still claimed to offer “uncompromised styling performance”. These the ingredients Rheocare XGN (INCI: Xanthan Gum) and Hydagen 558P (INCI: Algin) for maximum styling performance.

Among the specific products that are also on show are:

  • Cetiol SoftFeel: BASF’s newest soft-solid emollient, which is based on castor oil as an alternative to petrolatum and is said t help to create unique textures in a variety of applications
  • Seanactiv, a recently launched bioactive ingredient based on the marine algae Fucus Vesiculosus, which helps to fight dark circles, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and enhance skin luminosity around the eyes
