Brazilian firm Beraca has introduced Berashades, a palette of five naturally coloured, sustainable clays for cosmetic use: Ivory, Beige, Bronze, Caramel and Ebony. By mixing these, the company says, “it is possible to mix and match and customise more than 3,000 colour combinations in celebration of the different skin tones”.
Key properties include being 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free, with no added TiO2 and ease of formulation. The phytosilicates present in the clays naturally filter out impurities. Berashades is also claimed to allow coverage with a natural appearance and a matte effect, in addition to stable colour, as a result of the simultaneous micronisation process.
In addition, Beraca is launching a digital platform called the Berashades Mixer, enabling formulators to create their own shades with simultaneous access to different levels of benefits delivered by the ingredient, such as hydration, skin barrier function and firmness. This technology aims to assist professionals in time-to-market with scientific precision in each of the tones created.
