New anti-odour skin active from Ashland

Sensidin is described as a pure skin multifunctional, which “provides powerful and fast efficacy against odour-causing bacteria at very low use concentrations, while respecting the individual microbiome”

Ashland has added to its line of gentle deodorant actives with Sensidin. This is described as a pure skin multifunctional, which “provides powerful and fast efficacy against odour-causing bacteria at very low use concentrations, while respecting the individual microbiome”.

Based on Octenidine HCl, an active with antimicrobial properties and the natural solvent and humectant, 1,3-propanediol, Sensidin is said to be safe in-use and gentle on the skin. It is also easy to incorporate in formulations and suitable for all typical deodorant formats, including aerosol sprays.

According to company scientist, a 48-hour sniff test showed that Sensidin provides a long-lasting and reliable deodorant protection. In addition, a third-party study of its effects on the healthy microbiome in the axilla, concluded that the microbiome “is resilient and remained unchanged after 48 hours”.
