Croda subsidiary Sederma has introduced a naturally derived active ingredient that it says is effective on both hyperpigmented and vascular dark circles.
Ameyezing is obtained from supercritical CO2 extraction of Zingiber zerumbet rhizomes, which are sourced in the South-Eastern rregion of Madagascar from an Ecocert for Life-labelled responsible enterprise. It water-soluble and recommended for use at 1.5 %. T0 T2 months
The new ingredient decreases the production of melanin in vitro and helps to reduce the intensity of pigmentogenic oxidative and proinflammatory events. It also supports the integrity of capillary walls “by protecting and reinforcing these fragile structures composed of elastin and collagen, to avoid leakage of fluids”, the company said.
Sederma carried out clinical testing conducted on mixed-sex Caucasian and Asian panels. These showed that Ameyezing “generates a significant reduction in melanin deposition in the eye contour, leading to a visible decrease in shadowing”, as well as improving capillary blood flow
