The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) has announced that a new book ‘Olfaction: A Journey’ is now available to order on Amazon via https://tinyurl.com/z5yz59tw. This brings together presentations from some 50 speakers at its annual Fragrance Forum event over the past ten years.
“The book offers a decade of insights into the way our sense of smell impacts all areas of life, IFRA said. “It … allows readers to dip into the ideas presented by past speakers, organised by theme and offering a fascinating journey through ten years of olfactory research.”
The themes are extremely wide-ranging but include, among many other things: the possibilities of creating an artificial ‘nose’ through machine learning by Google Brain; the prospects for treating anosmia (the lack of a sense of smell); the role of smell in consciousness; the spices, balsams and incense used in the temples of Ancient Egypt’ and the evolution of our sense of smell.
