Industry gathered again at PCHi

Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) came to a close following a 3-day run, marking the industry’s first on-site event in China since the pandemic struck, and the halls buzzed with activity as lively discussions took place across the floor.

Over 26,000 trade professionals gathered at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from 24-26 March, to discover the latest ingredients and technologies presented by 665 exhibitors representing 30 countries and regions. In addition, more than 200 conference sessions, presentations, and events were held at the various knowledge-sharing platforms scattered throughout the venue.

Clean beauty featured prominently as the theme for this edition, with sustainable innovations and green cosmetics concepts spotted in several special zones, as well as at numerous exhibitors’ stands. Topics such as TCM herbal extracts in cosmetics and functional skin care also garnered a lot of interest from attendees this year, and the corresponding feature areas — PCHi Sustainability Zone and PCHi Annual Conference — addressed the visitors’ needs. Companies also put forward formulation ideas that specifically address post-COVID personal care needs, including an improved foaming alcohol-based hand sanitizer and transfer-proof colour cosmetics.

As regular business activities and MICE events resume, companies begin to enjoy the benefits of on-site meetings as opposed to being restricted to virtual ones. Attendees of PCHi 2021 exuded a collective enthusiasm that was keenly felt right from the beginning of Day 1.

While the in-person PCHi experience carried on, the Organizers also took care to engage the international crowd who were only able to attend via virtual platforms. The PCHi Guided Tour Live Broadcast and International Hybrid Networking Zone were two such initiatives that addressed the needs of both exhibitors and visitors this year. Global audience had the opportunity to explore the show ground ‘live’, and exhibitors based outside of China were able to connect with domestic visitors through the unique networking platform.
