In order to meet the growing demands of the cosmetics market in the East, Dermscan Asia is now installed in new facilities that have been specially designed and equipped to optimise the conditions under which clinical studies are conducted.
Developed as a medico-scientific environment, the new site allows a larger panel of volunteers to be received and is thus able to offer a broader range of tests. Dermscan’s panel of volunteers presents
a wide variety of skin and hair characteristics. After an initial recruitment of volunteers primarily of Thai (dark skin) and Thai-Chinese (lighter skin) origin, Dermscan Asia rapidly enlarged its panel to a current total of 3,000 volunteers representing numerous Asian ethnic groups: Chinese, Korean, Malaysian, Vietnamese, etc.
It is composed of both women (80%) and men (20%).
Their specific characteristics will allow studies such as that of skin lighteners which are very popular with Asian women.
Dermscan Asia has conducted in vivo tolerance tests (photosensitivity, moisturising effect, UVA protection, anti-dandruff, etc), in vitro tests (toxicity, anti-age, whitening, slimming, breast enhancement, capillary, etc) and consumer tests for both European and Asian products. Studies undertaken already conform to ASEAN regulations scheduled to become effective in 2008.
