Pinolumin for flawless skin

Pinolumin from Mibelle Biochemistry is a concentrated extract of Swiss stone pine that calms skin hypersensitivity and reduces local skin redness and colour irregularities resulting from various external stimuli.

Swiss stone pine grows preferentially at high altitudes on cold and windy hillsides. Therefore, the Swiss stone pine has to be highly resistant to extreme temperatures up to -50°C as well as strong winds. Despite this rough environment, it can live up to 1200 years. The wood of Swiss stone pine is often used to make beds and pillow fillings from shavings. Interestingly, research has revealed that the wood of Swiss Stone Pine fosters relaxation and deep sleep phases. When sleeping in a Swiss Stone Pine bed, the heart beat frequency is reduced, saving 3500 beats per day, which roughly corresponds to one hour less stress per day.

Swiss stone pine contains a resveratrol-like molecule called pinosylvin and produces more of this molecule upon encountering stresses such as UV light or wounding. Pinosylvin has been shown to neutralize free radicals, block pain receptors present in the skin and reduce inflammation through several biological pathways. This is especially important for irritated skin, where pain receptors are constantly active which can lead to itching, inflammation and an uneven appearance of the skin. Mibelle Biochemistry has developed Pinolumin, an extract from Swiss stone pine wood that contains pinosylvin to capture the beneficial effects of this protectant molecule to reduce skin irritation and inflammation.

In vitro studies notably demonstrated that Pinolumin inhibits the function of the pain receptor TRPV1 which is overactivated in sensitive skin. Consequently, Pinolumin inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory mediators. Furthermore, Pinolumin protects skin collagen by inhibiting the UVA-induced production of MMP-1.

Clinical studies showed that Pinolumin was able to both strongly and visibly reduce local redness and age spots on the face, which led to a noticeable increase in the overall skin tone homogeneity. In fact, measuring several colour parameters on twenty-four different points of the face demonstrated that Pinolumin succeeded in increasing the homogeneity of the skin. Before and after pictures clearly showed a reduction in local redness and age spots, which resulted in a more uniform skin tone. Therefore, Pinolumin is able to transform an uneven complexion into radiant skin.
