Vytrus Biotech launched in 2009 as a spinoff company of the Faculty of Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona. It was created by two scientists from the research group Plant Biotechnology Production of Phytomedicines, which has over 35 years’ experience in the area of plant cell cultures.
With the aim of transferring the profound knowledge from this research group to an industrial level, Vytrus Biotech emerged as a leading player in the development of plant cell cultures for the production of natural dermocosmetic active ingredients.
Vytrus Biotech’s breakthrough in plant cell culture technology came in 2015 with the launch of the Plant Cell BiofactoriesTM (PCB) Technology Platform. PCB uses totipotent cells, commonly known as plant stem cells, as biofactories to produce highly innovative multi-active ingredients. Based on this technology and in their proprietary concept of Molecular Synergy the company has set out a novel range of products termed: Plasma Rich in Cell FactorsTM (PRCF).
This proprietary concept is based on how nature works. Plants do not work with just one very concentrated molecule or with pure ones, they need the synergistic performance of a complex mixture of compounds, hence a rich plasma. Since totipotent cells contain and produce a large quantity of proactive essential substances, such as amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that perform in a synergistic way along with the dermocosmetic active principles of interest, they contribute to a better effectiveness of the product and to a strengthened cosmetic activity: = Plasma Rich In Cell Factors = Molecular Synergy
