Moisturising is one of the basic requirements of personal care product consumers, yet it is also an area seen as unfulfilled by a large proportion of people. Dry skin is extremely common, and can be caused by multiple factors, from air pollution and washing, to vitamin deficiencies and air conditioning.
As a result of one root cause or a combination of several, the skin can feel tight, itchy, scaly and cracked, leading to a great need for topical moisturising products.
Traditional products, such as lanolin, have been used to replace lost lipids, and this remains one of the most effective ways to treat dry skin. However it can also be unpleasantly waxy for use as a day-to-day product, so it falls upon formulators to source ingredients that can be as effective as lanolin yet still be pleasant and easy to use as part of an everyday skin care regime.
Within this product trail is a wide variety of innovative ingredients to help formulators create the next generation of moisturising products.
