Year ends on a high in Coventry

SCS Formulate took place on 15 and 16 November at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, UK, and was a resounding success for both visitors and exhibitors alike. With bustling aisles and packed seminars, the event continues grow each year and 2011 once again saw record numbers.

This year there were 193 exhibitors (up from last year’s 176) and 847 visitors (up from last year’s 835), which illustrates the growing influence of SCS Formulate in the personal care industry. But most importantly, the show was brimming with exciting and innovative ingredients and technology, ensuring that the next generation of personal care products live up to and exceed the ever-increasing expectations of demanding consumers. The Knowledge seminars covered topics such as how an innovative approach achieves an innovative fragrance, trends in marketing science to consumers, and trends and novel technologies in sun protection, from some of the most wellrespected experts in the industry. In-depth discussions on innovative ingredients were also available via the Source presentations. New ingredients from a wide range of companies ensured people attending the presentations left with top quality, innovative ingredient information.

The exhibition U

K-based distributor, Cornelius, had a number of highlights at the SCS exhibition, including: an extensive BASF range including UV filters and pearls, a new range of actives from Silab, preservatives and multifunctional ingredients from Lonza, cold process waxes and customisable CPW blends from Jeen and an extended range of natural, organic, Ecocert and NaTrue approved ingredients. The SCS visitors could also discuss the latest innovations from the Cornelius technical, quality and regulatory department. Development chemist Jennifer Allen was on hand to demonstrate the popular Eye Jewels, bright nail vanishes and lip balms, while the team of Cornelius experts offered advice and assistance on formulatory issues. Darren Spiby, Cornelius sales director, said to Personal Care Europe: “We were delighted with the response from the visitors on the innovative products and developments that we brought to the exhibition. We at Cornelius always try to bring something extra to the customers: our IPad 2 and charity donation competition certainly appeared to be a hit with the visitors to our stand! The video of the actual prize draw is available on the Cornelius website.”
