Natural gelling-emulsifying agent enhances skin feel

Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, a French raw material supplier recently acquired by Unipex, develops ingredients and technologies that answer the needs of a new generation of beauty products – formulae that combine a higher level of performance and sensoriality. Lucas Meyer Cosmetics’ formulation philosophy has been inspired by a century of innovation and expertise in the field of phospholipids, which are both natural functional ingredients and the base for efficient delivery systems. In the last few years, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics has been involved in the development of natural and ECOCERT compliant raw materials, both active ingredients and functional ingredients. The French naturals market increased its turnover by almost 30% per year since 2005 due to consumer fear regarding some chemical ingredients found in conventional cosmetic products. This growth stimulates more and more cosmetic companies to launch natural and biological cosmetic products. Nevertheless, the formulation of this type of cosmetic product is sometimes still limited because of a lack of key ingredients, such as natural gelling agents and natural skin feel enhancers. Lucas Meyer Cosmetics has therefore developed a new functional ingredient, Ecogel (INCI name: Lysolecithin (and) Sclerotium gum (and) Xanthan gum (and) Pullulan), which is the first natural gellingemulsifying agent on the market registered by ECOCERT and which combines three actions in one product: gelling action, emulsifying action and skin feel enhancer.
