For the first time in the history of the show, in-cosmetics Asia has collaborated with the International Federation of the Societies of Cosmetics Chemists (IFSCC) partnered with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists Thailand (SCCT) to create “Beauty Week in Bangkok”.
This is a great opportunity to attend two industry events in the space of six days, saving valuable time and expense. Asia’s personal care market is one of the fastest growing – by 2014 it is forecasted to increase by 17%, providing a great backdrop for the two events. For the first time the organisers of in-cosmetics Asia have secured a special collaboration with the IFSCC partnered with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists Thailand (SCCT) for their respective events. The technical conference, traditionally held at in-cosmetics, will now transfer to the IFSCC Conference from 31 October to 2 November 2011 and the IFSCC ingredients exhibition will be hosted exclusively at in-cosmetics Asia. Attendees will be able to enjoy the technical conference with IFSCC at the Centara Hotel while the ingredients exhibition will be hosted exclusively at in-cosmetics Asia from 2-4 November at BITEC. The 21st IFSCC Conference will take place with the theme of 3E “Effective, Economic & Ecological”. The venue Centara Grand, one of the largest hotels in Asia Pacific featuring 505 luxurious rooms and suites, is located within the central business district of Bangkok. The hotel features nine executive floors, including one floor of World Executive Club, nine restaurants and bars including “Fifty Five” (an unforgettable outdoor roof top venue with impressive views across the city skyline), and five-star hotel facilities. Bangkok Convention Centre (BCC), complemented by the Centara Grand and World Ballroom, is a stunning new landmark on the city’s skyline. The centre’s dynamic design was inspired by the unique shape of a “blooming lotus” and this state-of-the-art convention centre offers over 10,000 m2 of space, with a ceiling height of 13.5 m and the ability to accommodate up to 6,000 delegates in a single, pillar-less environment.
Awards
In 2003, the IFSCC Conference Award was installed to lift the level of science at IFSCC conferences. This proved successful, and participation in IFSCC Conferences also plays a crucial role in the scientific development of young cosmetic scientists. Until now, the IFSCC Conference Award was always won by well-known, established cosmetic scientists. While recognising the work of these people, the hosting of an IFSCC Conference should also stimulate the cosmetic scientists in that country to develop its own level of cosmetic science. Therefore, the IFSCC decided to change the number and format of the IFSCC awards, starting with the 2011 IFSCC Conference in Bangkok. The Scientific Committee of the IFSCC, led by Dr Fujihiro Kanda from Japan, decided on two new awards while the two existing awards remain unchanged. The Henry Maso Award: This new award will be presented at each IFSCC Conference to an author, aged 40 or younger at the time of presenting the paper. The winner will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the next IFSCC Congress. The Host Society Award: This new award will be presented to the best presentation originating from the host Society. In 2011, the winner will therefore be someone from Thailand. This will be an incentive to Thai cosmetic scientists to participate in the conference and grow the level of cosmetic science in the country. There is no age restriction for this award. The IFSCC Conference Award remains in place. This award will be given to the presenter of the best paper (talk or poster) of the whole conference. The Maison G. de Navarre Award also remains unchanged. For this award, young cosmetic scientists write an essay about one of five selected topics. The winner of this essay competition will have his or her essay published in the IFSCC magazine as well as attend the 2011 IFSCC Conference all expenses paid to present his or her paper there.
