Seppic has announced its adhesion to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) which promotes the growth of sustainable palm oil and the use of sustainable palm oil products through global standards.
Seppic does not directly consume palm oil but uses fatty derivatives obtained from palm oil to produce emulsifiers and emollients for the cosmetic and detergent industries. By joining RSPO, Seppic aims to encourage its fatty acid and alcohol suppliers to market ingredients made from sustainable palm oil. Charles-Henri des Villettes, chairman of Seppic’s group commented on this decision: “We actively support the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). For us good procurement means sustainable procurement and we are currently investigating each social and environmental aspect of our raw materials obtained from palm oil.”
