Silicon-manufacturer, Dow Corning, has recently opened a new office in Warsaw, Poland, expanding its European platform with a view to working more closely with local businesses.
The new office will become part the central and eastern European network, alongside Dow Corning’s other premises in Istanbul and Moscow, and is expected to be a base for up to 10 employees. As well as personal care, the commercial office in Warsaw will serve industries such as processing and construction with silicon-based technology and solutions. “Central Europe, and in particular Poland, is an attractive region with a resilient economy, skilled workforce and growing modern industry,” said Dr Stephanie A. Burns, Dow Corning’s chairman, president and CEO. “We recognise the region’s growing importance in the global economy and want to ensure the benefits of Dow Corning’s silicon-based materials and technology are easily available to help local businesses to grow and compete.” The company’s business activities in Poland have been in existence since the 1970s, through a network of local distributors. However, the decision to establish a physical presence in the country reflects Dow Corning’s belief in the opportunities Poland offers through its vibrant personal care and manufacturing industries as well as the intense rebuilding of its infrastructure. “Through permanent presence Dow Corning will have a better understanding of the region and serve local needs better,” commented John Lyon, regional president for Eastern Europe. “We aim to build relationships with local institutions, help develop future silicon experts and business leaders from the local talent pool and contribute to Poland’s efforts of increasing competitiveness and productivity.”
