US personal care ingredient maker Sensient Technologies has acquired Biolie, a French raw materials manufacturer specializing in white biotechnology.
Located in Saint Ouen l'Aumône in the Paris suburbs, Biolie has developed a patented, solvent-free enzymatic extraction technology for natural ingredients.
Milwaukee-based Sensient said the combined technological capabilities of Biolie and Sensient Beauty would provide an expertise in colour manufacturing that is “unmatched in the global cosmetics market”.
“We are thrilled about the strategic fit between our companies, affirming our global leadership position in supplying natural, sustainable actives and colours to the personal care industry,” added Sensient Colors President, Mike Geraghty.
Sensient Beauty’s Global General Manager, Gaelle Frere, said: “The acquisition provides us with access to Biolie’s biotechnological process, which will enhance our active colour portfolio.”
The acquisition expands Sensient’s manufacturing and innovation footprint in France, the Sensient Beauty headquarters and principal production facility is located in Saint Ouen l'Aumône.
Nicolas Attenot, founder, president, and head of operations at Biolie said: “Sensient expands the availability of Biolie technology globally, our upcycled-performance naturals will now be able to deliver customized innovation and value to brands worldwide.”
The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
