Nature Coatings, an award-winning US biochemicals company, is poised to enter the cosmetics market in the coming weeks with a new line of black pigments.
The new cosmetics line aims to be a direct offset of Carbon Black and Black 2, commonly found in colour cosmetics.
It will be suitable for eyeliners, mascara, lipsticks, foundations, eye shadows, facial masks, nails among other applications and is globally compliant and registered.
The Las Vegas, Nevada firm transforms wood waste into 100% bio-based, non-toxic and carbon-negative black pigments and dispersions.
The high-performing solutions are a replacement for petroleum-derived carbon black, and serve a wide range of sectors, including the ink industry (packaging, textile and footwear), as well as the plastics and paints and coatings industries.
Built on the same BioBlack technology that has been servicing the industrial markets, including apparel and fashion, customers will be able to count on Nature Coatings’ new cosmetic colourants to be 100% bio-derived, have the highest lightfastness rating, and be cost-competitive, carcinogen-free, VOC-free, non-nanomaterial, and carbon negative.
“Working in the pigment and dyes industry for over 15 years, I’ve seen the negative impact it has had on our environment and health. This inspired me to find a way to develop something better, something that is safe enough to be put on my face,” said CEO Jane Palmer.
