The US Society of Cosmetic Chemists has unveiled the winners of the awards to be presented at its 78th Annual Scientific Meeting in Los Angeles in December.
The awards recognise research papers and cosmetic science advancements submitted to the 77th meeting last year.
The list of awards is as follows:
- Young Scientist (under 40) award (sponsored by Surfatech): Christopher Kreuger, PhD (Beiersdorf) for Next Generation Risk Assessments: Advancing Safety Assessment of Cosmetic Ingredients without Animal Testing
- Hans A. Schaeffer award (sponsored by SCC) for most innovative paper: Dr. Hang Ma (University of Rhode Island) for Ferroptosis - A New Perspective for Physiologically Relevant Antioxidant Activity of Natural Products in Skin Protection: A Case Study of Cannabinoids
- Shaw Mudge award (sponsored by SCC) for best paper: Dr. Nadine Pernodet (The Estée Lauder Companies) for The Future of Skincare: Harnessing Epigenetics, from Anti-Aging to Age Reversal
- Society Of Cosmetic Chemists award (sponsored by Hallstar) for best paper on protecting human skin from UV radiation: Jennifer Marsh (Procter & Gamble) for Delivering Hair Care Benefits from Botanicals
- Alan B. & Jeanette Black award (sponsored by Presperse) for best paper on sustainable formulations : Cara Eaton (Croda) for Carbon in the Supply Chain: A Case Study on Methodology Development for Measurement of Impact
- Joseph P. Ciaudelli award (sponsored by Croda) for best hair care article appearing in the Journal of Cosmetic Science: Masato Yoshida (Milbon), Ryo Maruyama (Milbon) and Asao Yamauchi (Osaka Industrial Technology Research Institute) for Repairing Bleach-Damaged Hair by Treating With Polyphenol in the Presence of Cu (II) Ions
- Des Goddard award (sponsored by SCC) for most innovative paper on polymer science: Casey Posner (University of Toledo) for Transfer-resistant lipsticks: are bio-based film formers effective substitutes for synthetic film formers?
“SCC is proud to recognize these innovative, cutting-edge research papers and advancements contributed to the cosmetic sciences,” said SCC chief executive officer Erica O’Grady.
“These winners join a list of prestigious, accomplished professionals recognized by their peers for their outstanding work in our industry,” she added.
The SCC’s 78th Annual Scientific Meeting takes place on 11-13 December at the JW Marriott LA Live in Los Angeles, California.
