Symrise releases hydroxypropolyester for protecting formulations

Symrise has taken the wraps off Savelite HB, a multifunctional hydroxypropolyester designed to protect all types of cosmetic products targeting normal to sensitive skin.

Savelite HB, a clear, colourless, and odourless liquid, enhances product protection by acting against microorganisms and oxidation.

While enabling the formulation of safer products, Savelite HB also acts as an efficient moisturizer. In vivo corneometer testing showed an increase of 10.9% after two weeks.

Furthermore, it can help stabilize emulsions by reducing oil droplet size.

As a cold-processable ingredient, it allows for easy handling thus saving time and energy during production.

Offering the functionality of proprietary Ingredients, Savelite HB builds on well-established propanediol and benzoic acid molecules.

The ingredient meets Symrise sustainable targets. Readily biodegradable, Savelite HB is produced via a sustainable manufacturing process aligned with the principles of green chemistry.

“Symrise has been leading the way on innovations in cosmetic product protection for more than 30 years,” said Symrise senior global product manager of cosmetic ingredients Sabrina Mizaël.

“Thanks to this new technology made from well-known ingredients, we are increasing the diversity of our product protection solutions. This enables us to support our customers in their formulation processes,” she added.

Symrise will introduce Savelite HB at the in-cosmetics Global trade show in Paris, France on 16-18 April.
