VIDEO: Guerlain gives sneak peak of ‘Warehouse of Wonders’ collection

French cosmetics house Guerlain has taken the wraps off ‘The Warehouse of Wonders’, a collection of 400 historic items including the world’s first tube lipstick.

Associated Press footage also reveals the first modern perfume and the original Nivea cream and serum.

Guerlain heritage director Ann Caroline Prazan has spent several years to curate the 400-item collection from around 18,000 pieces in the Paris company’s archive.

Prazan told Associated Press that the collection´s most prized object is a lipstick created in 1870 and housed in a contemporary-looking gold bullet.

The refillable mechanism holds a dark Bordeaux wax pigment still intact after 153 years.

Employees Aime and Gabriel Guerlain had the idea to create the lipstick after walking past the store of candlemaker with wax and coloured pigments.

Guerlain was founded in 1828 and was acquired by luxury conglomerate LVMH in 1994.
