Ascot International has launched Peptiprotect, a plant-based natural anti-ageing active based on three natural wholesome Ayurvedic herb extracts: Indian winter cherry (Withania somnifera), mung bean (Vigna radiata) and sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas).
The combined extracts are formulated to provide superior antioxidant, anti-ageing, nourishing, relaxing, soothing, hydrating and rejuvenating properties.
Studies have found Indian winter cherry to have a relaxing and revitalizing effect on the body; it is found to lower cortisol levels in several studies which results in lowering stress and soothing the tissues.
Mung beans are an excellent source of phyto-protein, polysaccharides, polyphenols and peptides while sweet potato is reported to possess significant anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which may prevent skin from general infections.
“These three extracts have been used for their nutritional as well as cosmeceutical properties in classical Ayurvedic system of medicine for centuries by millions of people and continue to be used across the Indian sub-continent thus providing the product an unmatched safety profile,” said an Ascot International spokeswoman.
“Not only have the individual herb extracts been studied in various institutions and universities for their active cosmeceutical benefits but the blend itself has been tested for its antioxidant, elastase enzyme inhibition and collagenase enzyme inhibition properties through bio-chemical assays and found to possess markable active properties,” she added.
“Peptiprotect could be used in any cosmetic product having water phase to infuse that with significant antiaging and other skin beneficial properties in a safe effective and completely natural way.”
Additionally, to support an upcycling initiative, the roughage part of these plants is converted into compost to be used as green manure for crops.
