Givaudan’s Fragrance & Beauty business unit recorded like-for-like (LFL) sales growth of 6.8% in the first quarter of 2023 on the previous period last year.
Fragrance & Beauty sales were 837m Swiss francs ($943m) between January and March 2023.
On a business unit basis, Fine Fragrance sales increased by 20.9% LFL against a high prior year comparable growth of 17.4%.
Consumer Products sales increased by 3.0% LFL and sales of Fragrance Ingredients and Active Beauty increased by 5.1% LFL.
The Swiss firm said the sales growth was driven by the volume increases in Fine Fragrance with sustained high levels of new business.
In addition, pricing actions were implemented in all business units. The growth was achieved across all customer groups with particularly strong performance in the high growth markets.
Group-wide, Givaudan recorded sales of 1.773 billion Swiss francs in the first three months of 2023, a LFL increase of 3.6% on the previous period last year.
“Givaudan started the year with good business momentum whilst maintaining its operations and global supply chain at a high level, despite the challenging external environment continuing to affect some parts of the business,” it said in a statement.
“With sustained higher input costs in 2023, the company is continuing to implement price increases in collaboration with its customers to fully compensate for the increases in input costs,” it added.
