Active Concepts unleashes power of nature with anti-ageing ingredients

Active Concepts unveiled two anti-ageing ingredients, AC OleaShield and AC AmaraSense, at the in-cosmetics Global 2023 trade show in Barcelona.

AC OleaShield (INCI: Lactobacillus & Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Water & Lactobacillus Ferment) is an anti-ageing solution, made from upcycled olive leftovers, to reduce wrinkles and restore skin elasticity.

Studies show AC OleaShield: increases cell migration at a comparable rate to the positive control (in 72 hours); increases autophagic-lysosomal vacuoles compared to untreated fibroblasts (38% tested at 1%); reduces ROS levels compared to fibroblasts treated with Antimycin A (38% at 1%); and exhibited greater antioxidant activity than 200μM Trolox (at 5%).

The second ingredient, AC AmaraSense, (INCI. Water & Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract & Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract & Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract & Lactobacillus Ferment) is a combination of upcycled licorice root extract, white willow bark extract, and artichoke extract that stimulates cutaneous bitter taste receptors.

Glycyrrhetinic acid, tannic acid, and artichoke extract are three ingredients that work together to treat fragile, tired, and irritated skin while also promoting wound healing, anti-ageing benefits, and improving overall skin health.

Studies show AC AmaraSense enhances intracellular calcium levels (20% tested at 1%); improves skin moisturization (27,84% after 4 weeks tested at 2%); aged keratinocytes elicited reductions in SA-β-gal activity (52% at 1%); and increases cell migration and wound healing (at 0,1% after 96 hours).
