The organiser of the in-cosmetics Global trade show has launched a sustainability trends report, which addresses the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in its ongoing journey to reduce its carbon footprint.
Following the path of a personal care product, ‘Trends Barometer: Focus on Sustainability’ published by RX, looks at the state of the cosmetics and personal care industry through an eco lens, combining insights and advice from leading experts including representatives from Weleda, Apivita, Beauty Kitchen, Ecovia Intelligence and others.
As conscious consumerism and ‘clean’ beauty dominate the industry’s agenda, combined with calls for brands to reduce the carbon footprint of their products, the report explores how suppliers, manufacturers, and brands across the whole supply chain can work towards a circular economy.
It highlights how the onus is no longer placed solely on plastic packaging materials, but on the entire supply chain, from ingredient sourcing to end-of-life properties.
Adopting initiatives such as accuracy in data and traceability, ingredient sourcing, working with waste ingredients, and streamlining transportation, are just a few of the actions the report explores.
Echoing this on the show floor in March, in-cosmetics Global’s new Sustainability Zone has been introduced to expand the show’s sustainability offering, providing more information and opportunities to attendees looking to improve their carbon footprint.
The zone will consist of the existing sustainability display and theatre (sponsored by AAK) and new sustainability pavilion (sponsored by Farmforce).
in-cosmetics Global’s sustainability area development is supported by The Green Chemist Consultancy and presented in partnership with Ecovia Intelligence.
“Sustainability, and the concept of ‘conscious consumerism’, has gone from a nice-to-have to a must-have. Therefore, it seems imperative that this year’s in-cosmetics Global show has sustainability at the forefront of discussions, with our premiere Trends Barometer report and our new Sustainability Zone leading this,” said Roziani Zulkifli, exhibitions director at in-cosmetics Global.
“The in-cosmetics Global Trends Barometer puts the spotlight on the future of sustainability in the cosmetics and personal care industry, bringing together insights from experts leading this exciting new chapter. Their insights and advice provide an overview of the challenges facing the industry, and why taking the next step to embrace a circular and sustainable future is paramount,” she added.
